Major Interests
The immune system is a key player in the resolution and prevention of severe pathologies, such as infectious and inflammatory diseases. To accomplish their function throughout life, immune cells interact with each other and with their external environment. Thus, all immune cell processes, ranging from haemotopoiesis to immune cell response to pathogens, require the establishment of effective cellular and molecular interactions. However, the mechanisms that underpin immune cell function and communication with their environment remain largely elusive.
In our unit we aim to explore novel communication pathways that determine immune cell fate and disease progression, focusing on haemotopoiesis and innate lymphoid cell development and function.
